DRIVE-IT-YOURSELF TOUR       

Sunday - October 26, 2008               

Time:  1:00 p.m. - 5:00p.m.

Take a short Sunday afternoon drive with your family to enjoy the fall colors and amber waves of grain!!!

Stop by and visit:

-Grain Operation - Clark & Cathy Sheets

-Cattle Operation - Curt Stivisons

-Rushcreek - Rush Creek Conservancy District

Each stop will feature displays such as Ohio Soy Bean Council, Ohio Corn Growers Association, Farm Bureau, Hocking Hills Tourism Association, NRCS, and more.

2ND ANNUAL FARMER YOUTH INITIATIVE HUNT (F.Y.I.)

What is F.Y.I.?

Program designed to help our farmers deal with deer damage through the harvest control method, while providing young hunters access to private hunting land during the Youth Gun Season. The program enables youth to practice ethical hunting, and gain respect for the hunting & farming tradition. Program targets youth that come from single parent, limited income, and/or youth that do not have private land access for the youth deer gun season but is open to all Hocking County and surrounding county youth.  

For more information on this program contact Rebecca Miller, Education Specialist @740-385-3016.  Registration is required and limited to 12 youth participants age 8 - 17 yrs old.

Important dates associated with this program:

ORIENTATION DAY - NOVEMBER 8, 2008 (Mandatory if participating in the program!)

YOUTH HUNT DAY - NOVEMBER 22, 2008

 

HOME SCHOOL FIELD DAY

December 17, 2008

For: Jr. High & High School Students - Younger Children Welcomed.

Where: Bishop Educational Gardens

Time: 9:30a.m - 1130 p.m.

Cost:  FREE - However, donations to Bishop Educational Gardens will be accepted to help fund future outdoor education days and supplies. 

Topics:  Animal Anti- Freeze

Join us as we do a "chilling" experiment to determine what an animal needs to hibernate or adapt to winter!

Registration is required and will be taken until December 12, 2008. Limit of 50 youth for this program.

Please wear comfortable warm clothing, appropriate shoes (tennis shoes or hiking shoes and warm socks).  If the weather is unseasonably warm we will have an alternate activity.
